Barbara Kerr

Advances have been made recently in the conceptualization of the career development of the gifted and talented, particularly in clarifying the career development concerns of multipotential individuals and of individuals with specific extraordinary talents. A greater understanding has emerged of gifted students' choices and needs, which in turn has provided information about the kinds of career assessments and interventions which are most useful to this population. Gifted women and gifted minority students have special career development needs and require cautious use of testing and interview assessment strategies.
